Were it set anywhere in the West, Crimson Gold would be a clearly derivative retelling of Taxi Driver with the role of ticking time-bomb played by a pizza delivery guy.

But as overly familiar as director Jafar Panahi's setup and delivery seems, its freshness is in its setting.
