The trouble with Focus, Neil Slavin's deeply paranoid adaptation of Arthur Miller's early novel, is that to hear the plot is to laugh darkly.

To wit: An utterly middle-American white-collar worker (played by utterly middle-American actor William H. Macy) gets a new pair of glasses that make him "look Jewish," turning his life to a living hell.
