If nothing else, Geraldine's Fortune has a pedigree. It has first-class source material (Michel Tremblay's comic play Les Belles Soeurs), a respected director in John N. Smith and a comically adept cast.

Given all that, its only achievement is that this alleged comedy manages to shoot itself so fatally in the foot.
