Movie Review: Ghost Dog

Killer of a hit-man movie
The irony of a hit man with a conscience has been played out on film before, but never with the quiet depth and subtle charm of auteur Jim Jarmusch's Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai. It opens today at the Princess II.

Forest Whitaker, who inexplicably appears in pap like Battlefield Earth and Species between doing his good movies, absolutely owns the role of Ghost Dog, a stoic, compassionate but ruthlessly efficient urban assassin.

Quirky hitman film has bite

It's a witty gangster film that owes as much to hip-hop music as it does to the classic American western and the moody Japanese samurai films.
