The movie Grind has a certain specific appeal, namely, it will appeal specifically to skateboarding enthusiasts aged about 10 to 14. That may be too broad. Never mind.

Sweet and fairly amusing, Grind stars Mike Vogel, Adam Brody, Vince Vieluf and Joey Kern as a quartet of hopefuls in the skateboard world. They are good, but they have no corporate sponsor to finance their lives.

rind is a movie as erratic as the skateboarding phenomenon itself. It's all over the map trying to outperform itself with every new turn.

Opening in Edmonton today, Grind is determined to showcase some of the more spectacular stunts the sport has to offer, which it does in the first few skateboarding sequences. The skaters seem to defy gravity as they spin in the air above their boards only to land back on them and careen down a ramp.
