Movie Review: Groove

Groove has no heart
There's really only one reason to stick around for the end of the new film Groove, and that's to see if the song playing over the closing credits is performed by Simple Minds or Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark.

Time to get in the Groove
Groove is an untempo take on the world of raves. Maybe it makes sense to real-life aficionados of the all-night party. Maybe it's as ludicrous to them as the old Beach Blanket movies were to real surfers. Couldn't tell you, but Groove is certainly a trip to look at.

Fueled by youth, techno, and Ecstasy, the ensemble cast assembles in a deserted warehouse in San Francisco to party from sundown to sunup. Groove takes place in one day, starting with sight scoping, e-mails to alert the partyers, set-up, music, security, guide maps, dj round-up (including Digweed, Forest Green, Polywog and WishFM, all playing themselves), endless hopping up and down and finally wandering home at dawn.
