The Grey Zone is a film about a particularly chilling chapter in human history.
Based on actual events, the film concerns the inmates of Auschwitz who were part of the Sonderkommando -- work squads of Jewish prisoners forced by the Nazis to work as clean-up crews at the camp crematoria. The unholy work gave the prisoners a few more weeks of life before they too were killed. Those who refused to be part of the Sonderkommando were shot at once, not counting those able to kill themselves first.
