La Cienaga is a first feature from Lucrecia Martel. The film has won rave reviews from the film fest circuit and is being heralded as part of a new-new-wave in Argentinian filmmaking. Cinema claustrophobia could be the name of that wave.

The film begins with some fairly arresting shots of bathing non-beauties lounging around a fabulously filthy swimming pool -- no heads or faces, just the too, too sullied flesh.
