Movie Review: Laws Of Attraction

Laws Of Attraction are repealed
Two high-powered New York divorce attorneys fall in love in Laws Of Attraction. Those lawyers are played by Julianne Moore and Pierce Brosnan, so even those rarely inclined to enjoy romantic comedy will be forgiven for getting their hopes up.

Those hopes will be dashed. Laws Of Attraction has about 40 minutes of really promising material, a first act that displays wit, sophistication and plenty of chemistry between the leads. The lawyers meet, compete, seem to hate each other and then -- of course -- are attracted to each other. Both characters are flawed enough to be interesting. Some of the dialogue is really funny. It's good to see Moore show her comedic talent as an uptight Manhattanite. It is good to see Brosnan step away from the two-dimensional iconic stuff of James Bond.
