Stop me if you've heard this movie plot before: A narcisstic, career-driven woman gets the word that she only has a week to live. So she learns how to become a better person -- she falls in love, relaxes, hangs out with a lovable kid -- before she shuffles off this mortal coil.
This being the cookie-cutter premise of the Angelina Jolie dramady, Life Or Something Like It, its success depends on how much its buxom star can rise above the material. And for the most part, Jolie's winning performance and irresistible screen presence can salve some of the film's more painful problems.
