The Toronto movie Luck is a hockey time-travel machine.
Even though the story is about a charming young man who is a hopeless gambling addict and an even bigger loser in love, the story is played out against the Cold War backdrop of the 1972 hockey Summit Series between Canada and the Soviet Union. While Americans foolishly believe that the 1980 Miracle On Ice is the most important hockey story ever, Canadians know better and this movie adroitly exploits that reality.
