A Danish manifesto called 'Dogme 95' sets out new rules for making raw, basic, unadorned films that are liberated from the tyranny of modern technical wizardry and genres.
The dogma includes shooting in real-life places in "the here and now" with no extra props, no artificial lighting, no added sound and only a single hand-held camera allowed. Nothing artificial -- such as a staged murder -- is permitted.
