Two words: Midnight showings.
That's where you'll likely find The Powerpuff Girls Movie in the very near future, because it features the kind of mind-bending visual psychedelics and twisted hilarity that appeals to red-eyed popcorn-munchers that venture into movie theatres late, late at night.
Not that kids won't love it, too.
The full-length feature based on Craig McCracken's hit Cartoon Network TV show is big, bright and bombastic with plenty of monkey butt-kicking by the trio of moon-eyed, super-powered, cute-as-pie kindy-gartners, Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup.
For those that aren't familiar with the Emmy-winning show -- and if you're going to the film I recommend watching it with your kids at least once (it's on YTV every weekday at 6 p.m.) to get acclimatized to the animation and its humour -- it features the crime-fighting adventures of three pint-sized superheroes who are the lab-creation/accident of the kind-hearted Professor Utonium.
The film tells the story of the origins of The Powerpuff Girls -- as well their arch-nemesis, the evil monkey mastermind Mojo Jojo -- and how, after initially being labelled as destructive freaks, the girls have come to save the day time after time in the city of Townsville.
There are so many wonderful scenes and small touches in The Powerpuff Girls Movie that it's really hard to know where to begin.
The only warning I should probably offer is that unlike Hey Arnold! or Lilo & Stitch, the message takes a back seat to the action, cartoon mayhem and subtle puns.
Truly a cult classic in the making.
