What should be the outstanding feature of The Prince & Me is a superb cast: Julia Stiles, Luke Mably, Alberta Watson, Miranda Richardson, Ben Miller and James Fox -- not your average lineup for a Hollywood romantic comedy.

Alas, what ends up distinguishing this film is what a dog's breakfast it turns out to be. Written by former TV sitcom scribblers, The Prince & Me wanders around in a state of creative lassitude and finally collapses in an ending that smells suspiciously of market-testing.
