Like the 1975 TV series that inspired it, S.W.A.T. is pure macho police action.

That's a good thing because director Clark Johnson knows the workings of police dramas. He played Detective Meldrick Lewis on the TV series Homicide: Life on the Street and directed many of its better episodes. He also moonlighted as a director on NYPD Blue, Third Watch, The Shield and The Wire.
