Saint Monica is one of those small, heartfelt films you wish you could celebrate. If only it was a little bit better, smarter, sharper, better written and directed and acted.

As it is, the modest Canadian movie is okay but more like a TV movie-of-the-week than a legitimate theatrical release. It was a bit much that it made it into the Perspective Canada series at the Toronto film fest in September.
