My own take is that Saved! -- a spoof of life in a Southern Baptist high school -- is really an '80s high school film in which the girl gets the guy at the prom, and in which the cruel teen preppies are rewritten as cruel fundamentalist teen preppies. James Spader has morphed into Mandy Moore, gripping a Bible, shaking her virgin goodies to Christian rock and blithely freezing out those she deems "unsaved."
