In the big scheme of things, the Quebec comedy Seducing Dr. Lewis is a small movie. It is utterly charming, even beguiling, but still modest in scale.

That is why the 11 Genie Award nominations that Jean-Francois Pouliot's effort generated is astounding. This film (known as La Grande Seduction under its original French title and playing here in French with English subtitles), beat out both The Snow Walker and The Barbarian Invasions, which trail with nine nominations each.
