Movie Review: Shaolin Soccer

Bend it like Bruce Lee
Say cheese, please: Shaolin Soccer is a wacko combination of martial arts and special effects.

This bizarre comedy, which was featured at the Toronto filmfest two years ago, is Hong Kong's most successful production ever. Shaolin Soccer has won most of the available prizes at the Hong Kong film awards.

Not enough kicks in silly Soccer comedy
Humour doesn't travel nearly as easily or effectively as drama.

Stephen Chow's Shaolin Soccer is one of the all-time top-grossing films in Hong Kong and China. In Asia, Chow is as famous and popular as Jackie Chan, Chow Yun-Fat and Jet Li, yet he's still an unknown performer in North America.
