Chinese director Zhang Yang's Shower is one of those small movies that is easily overlooked, even in its country of origin.

It is so low key, so leisurely and so subtle that some audience members get restless wondering if anything is ever going to happen. Yet happen things do, quietly, with gentle humour and sly insight.
