On paper, Sleepover sounds like just another tired teen-coming-of-age comedy.

It has similarities to everything from Cinderella to The Ugly Duckling, so it's ripe for sighs of been there, done that.

In Sleepover, some 14-year-old girls sneak out at night, drive without a licence, go to a bar, meet a stranger on an Internet date, sneak into a private home to steal something, talk their way into a high school dance, disrespect parents and other authority figures and wreck part of one girl's house.

And those are the goodie-goodie girls.
