It is a sad truth in the Canadian film business that Canadians do not much like going to homegrown movies, even the good ones. Instead, they prefer American films, even the bad ones.

That is true-times-two when it comes to French-language Quebec films in the English Canadian market, Toronto included. The "Two Solitudes" paradigm is still the rule.
