The Son is a psychological thriller of sorts, but it's entirely character-driven. This drama from the Dardenne Brothers concerns a couple of ordinary people bound by an incident from the past.
The main character, Olivier, is a man approaching middle-age -- bespectacled, quiet, preoccupied. He teaches carpentry, and he teaches at a trade school where the young men who come to him as students are graduates of juvenile detention halls and other such facilities.
