I first saw this movie at its gala opening at last year's Toronto International Film Festival -- during which a patron fainted, and star Matthew McConaughey raced to her aid to give mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.

That part was strangely missing this week as I rescreened Jill Sprecher's clever series of concentric stories on the subject of happiness and luck, good and bad.
