Taking chances and broadening one's horizons are the messages available in The Croods, an animated adventure kids will love.
Full of energetic action and visual pop (and snap and crackle, for that matter), The Croods puts a family of cavemen on a road trip as the continents begin their catastrophic shift.
The Croods include a protective dad, Grug, voiced by Nicolas Cage, a loving mom (Catherine Keener), grandma (Cloris Leachman) and a rebellious adolescent daughter Eep (Emma Stone). There are also two younger children. Eep's desire to get outside the protective walls of the family cave are a cause for concern for dad, who warns his brood to always be afraid, as fear will protect them. The Crood family has to contend with ferocious (and eye-catching) animals at all times, so safety is their first priority. Dad makes it clear: take no risks, entertain no ideas, do nothing new. Hide in the cave. That works for him.
