Movie Review: Tomb Raider

Game over
Lara Croft has really big guns.

She uses her trademark pair of immense assets a lot in the video game-inspired action-adventure Tomb Raider, opening in theatres today. Shooting a giant robot, shooting ancient statues that come to life, shooting the faceless expendable villains who get in her way. Why, what did you think we were talking about?

Tame Raider
Angelina Jolie's got game. Too bad the game she is playing in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider is too tame for this talented and tempestuous temptress.

The movie, based on the popular Eidos Interactive video game in which the politically incorrect uber-heroine Lara Croft dispatches rivals and even rare animals, is a tad dull, is way too conservative, and slips only momentarily into the gender wars that could have juiced it up tremendously if the filmmakers had any guts.
