The stunningly incompetent Plan 9 From Outer Space, the most enjoyable bad movie ever made, became a cult classic because Edward D. Wood just didn't know how lousy his movie really was. He thought he was being serious.

 The new Canadian sci-fi comedy Top Of The Food Chain, despite the best 'bad' efforts of star Campbell Scott, doesn't work precisely because director John Paizs is trying so hard to be clever, cute and satirical.
