In 1994, Ang Lee spun a wonderful tale called Eat, Drink, Man, Woman about a Taiwanese chef, who discovers he's losing his senses of taste and smell at the same time each of his three daughters announce they are leaving his household. With Lee's blessing, the film has been relocated to a Mexican-American household in L.A. and renamed Tortilla Soup.

The movie opens with complex, engrossing sequences of meal preparation and there are several fairly intense foodie scenes as the story progresses. Each of these is magical, and yes, we know full well how weird that sounds.
