Vampire films set to bite in 2010

Vampires may have issues with sunlight, but they apparently thrive in overexposure. So while the Twilight machine grinds on (next up: Eclipse in June) and True Blood titillates adults, here's what else Hollywood is sinking its teeth into:

Daybreakers (January 2010): Willem Dafoe and Ethan Hawke star in this futuristic frightener about a plague that has transformed humanity into vampires. But wouldn't you know it: The blood supply is running out.

Let Me In (TBA 2010): A remake of the terrific Swedish thriller Let The Right One In, about an alienated boy who befriends a 12-year-old girl with a hunger for hemoglobin. Although the thought of a redo chills us to the bone, at least it stars the ever-reliable Richard Jenkins as the girl's guardian. Matt Reeves (Cloverfield) is directing.

Dark Shadows (2011): Their Alice in Wonderland isn't even out yet, but Johnny Depp and director Tim Burton are already plotting their next collaboration: A remake of the 1960s Gothic vampire soap opera with Depp as Barnabas Collins.

Interview with the Vampire (TBA): Robert Downey Jr. was rumoured to be circling the role of Lestat in a remake of the 1994 Tom Cruise vehicle. Even if that's erroneous, it's only a matter of time before Anne Rice's popular novel is resurrected.

The Historian (TBA): The film rights to this best-seller -- about a young woman whose father goes missing while he's searching for the grave of Vlad the Impaler (a.k.a. Dracula) -- sold for more than $1 million in 2005. So what's the holdup?
