Classy, gritty and noir-ish, Urbania is an experiment in storytelling that works surprisingly well, given its modest means and non-traditional bent.

Charlie (Dan Futterman, the bumbling brother on Judging Amy) has suffered some sort of trauma, leading him to wander the streets of Manhattan at night.

Let's give credit where credit is due: Urbania was filmed over 18 days for about $225,000. Sometimes cheap and fast works better than big budget-inflated nonsense.

Sometimes it doesn't. There's plenty to like about Urbania, but in the end, the movie doesn't quite work.
