If, as scientists suspect, there is ocean under the ice of the Jovian moon Europa, it's hard to imagine it being weirder than that on display in the new IMAX feature Volcanoes Of The Deep Sea.
The film, which opens today at the Ontario Science Centre's Omnimax theatre, is an incredible robot's-eye view of the adventures of Alvin, a vehicle that is essentially a backwards space probe. Its fantastic voyage takes it a crushing 12,000 feet down, near the Azores, to a constantly-erupting volcanic rift between Europe and North America.
