Though it plays more like a TV movie-of-the-week than a feature film, The War Bride is an entirely watchable period drama about a young British woman who moves to the prairies during WWII.
Anna Friel stars as Lily, a good-natured Londoner who keeps her spirits up despite the blitz. She and her best friend Sophie (Julie Cox) meet a couple of Canadian soldiers one night, and within weeks the two women are brides.
