The Watcher is a psychological thriller that stars Keanu Reeves as a serial killer and James Spader as the homicide detective trying to stop him. It isn't a very good movie, but there are so many pretty things to look at in the way of cast and cinematography that it takes a while before you notice.
Set in Chicago, The Watcher kicks off huge with the sights and sounds of a massive manhunt. The bad guy's identity is not a secret. Enter Spader as the cop, first pictured quietly trying to explain his work and his shattered life to his psychologist. The shrink is played by a cruelly lit and photographed Marisa Tomei, a woman born to play comedy.
