There is no such person as Alan Smithee. Any film directed by Alan Smithee -- for example, Woman Wanted -- is a film with enough troubles of one sort or another that the director's name just magically disappears.

 Well, whatever. Woman Wanted is a small, strange and rather engaging movie. Michael Moriarty stars as a repressed professor, Kiefer Sutherland is his troubled son and Holly Hunter is the housekeeper they hire to maintain some sort of peace in their home.
