Movie Review: Yiyi A One And A Two

Universal language
The award-winning Taiwanese film Yi Yi is a sweet, wistful look at the lives of an extended family in Taipei.

There's no question it's a soap opera, but a most charming and involving one. There's a wedding, funeral, several hospital visits, a birth, a coma, sexual indiscretions, an attempted suicide and even a murder.

You can't put Yi Yi down
All about love, family and the passage of time, Yi Yi -- A One And A Two is a movie that starts with a wedding and ends with a funeral.

The film focusses on the Jian family, whose members range from very old to very young. Yi Yi is a universal story about everyday life amongst ordinary people -- the film, which is about three hours long, is as rich and complex as a terrific novel, and you'll fall into the story just like you fall into a good book.
