CD Review: Rock Kills Kid: Are You...
Rock debut good, but doesn't kill

Rock Kills Kid
Are You Nervous?
(Reprise/Warner)

Meet this month's new alt-pop band: L.A.'s Rock Kills Kid.

They've got the pointy guitars and danceable beats. They've got the retro synths and falsetto-tinged vocals. They've got bits of DNA from U2 and The Killers and Coldplay and Duran Duran and Interpol.

And they've got a singer-guitarist named Jeff Tucker who supposedly wrote these 10 songs during a couple of years of self-imposed exile while he was basically homeless and squatting in a recording studio.

Personally, we think he should have got out more.

But if you've got a jones for yet another album full of stylish, slickly produced pop-rock grooves, these guys have got 'em in spades.
