Metal band denied entry into Canada
By Tom Godfrey -- Toronto Sun

Metalheads have taken to the Internet to blast Canadian immigration officials for refusing to allow U.S. death metal band Fecal Corpse into the country for two Toronto-area gigs.

The New York City band was refused entry for gigs last Friday and Saturday at Adam's in Toronto and Peterborough's Trasheteria because they didn't have work permits, the band said on its website.

Threatened with jail

"We got threatened with three weeks of jail time per member plus fines," Fecal Corpse said online. "After six hours of interrogation they decide to let us go because 'it was not worth the time.' "

The band, which is best known for a debut hit We Gang-Banged Your Mom ... Again! had to have the shows cancelled.

Club officials couldn't be reached yesterday.

The band said they're banned from Canada for a year and their merchandise won't be permitted because "it's deemed offensive."

Patrizia Giolti, of the Canada Border Services Agency, said yesterday she couldn't discuss the case.

"All our decisions are based on the law," she said. "There is always something to take into account when our officers deny someone entry."

Fans angered

News of the cancelled gigs angered the band's fans in Canada and across the world. They have submitted e-mails to vent their outrage.

"That's a real bummer you guys got denied at the border," one fan wrote. "Its not like you are terrorists or whatever!"

"Canada has let in other metal acts who were as sick and twisted," another wrote. "It's a real contradiction of my country."

"We should rally and stampede the border," Meat Grinder said. "You guys should be dropped from a helicopter."

"I am banned from Canada too," John told the band.
