AC/DC boycotts iTunes

Rockers AC/DC are refusing to sell their music through internet download service iTunes, because they fear fans will only purchase "a few tracks".

The band wants fans to purchase their music as a whole package, because the songs "belong together".

Frontman Angus Young says, "We don't make singles, we make albums.

"If we were on iTunes, we know a certain percentage of people would only download two or three songs from the album. We don't think that represents us musically."

And despite pressure from record label bosses to make the band's songs available on iTunes, Young doesn't believe that being part of the site is crucial to success.

He adds, "Since iTunes came into existence, we've actually increased our back catalogue sales without being on the site. We were sternly warned by our management team and our record label that the complete opposite would be the case."
