The best -- and the rest -- of the MuchMusic Video Awards' red carpet last night.

DID SOMEONE SAY PLAYMATE?

Among those spotted last night was 2008 Playboy Playmate of the Year and Port Perry, Ont.,-raised Jayde Nicole, also the girlfriend of The Hills star Brody Jenner, who accompanied her.

Nicole now lives in West Hollywood but she said she loved coming home to make a red-carpet entrance with Jenner.

"It's insane. Its like everyone in Canada loves Brody. It's like Brody and Canada are like this (she crosses fingers). And so when he comes here, people just go absolutely crazy. And of course, it's my hometown -- so I have a lot of fans and friends that are here."

Nicole is the first Canadian Playmate of the Year since Shannon Tweed -- the longtime companion of Gene Simmons -- 26 years ago.

GOSSIP-MAKING

Brody Jenner said he had no problem with celebrity gossip blogger Perez Hilton making the scene at the MMVAs last night.

"I love Perez," Jenner told MuchMusic veejay Sarah Taylor.

"Perez does what he does, it's all good. We're good. I've known him for a long time. I don't mind."

Hilton later told Taylor that his outfit was courtesy of Lady Gaga who made his pants and Kanye West who was responsible for sneakers.

"I'm bringing hip-hop and pop to Canada," said Hilton, who added his No. 1 gossip target of the night was buzzed about Toronto rapper Drake (Aubrey Graham, also known for playing Jimmy Brooks on Degrassi: The Next Generation) -- rumoured to be dating Rihanna.

Notably, Taylor didn't ask Drake about a possible Rihanna relationship.

"It's always an amazing feeling if I'm home," Drake told Taylor. "I love Toronto with all my heart and I'm feeling good."

He did talk about Kanye West directing his new video.

"The concept is a basketball theme, which is kind of weird for a song about a woman, but it's a metaphor. Me and Kanye kind of put this concept together. It's going to be really funny. It's going to be really good. I'm excited about it."

MAKING AN ENTRANCE

One of the most important parts of the MMVAs is making an entrance on the red carpet. Toronto's Lights showed up with a guy dressed as an astronaut from her video.

"Perfect accessory, perfect boy," Lights, whose real name is Valerie Poxleitne, told MuchMusic veejay Sarah Taylor.

Toronto punk-rock outfit Billy Talent showed up with all their dads, given it was Father's Day.

"Why not bring our father's down and celebrate with the old men?" said group frontman Ben Kowalewicz.

Five-time nominee Danny Fernandes showed up on a motorcycle dressed in bike gear and MMVA performer and Edmonton pop-punk up-and-comer Shiloh was driven up in a gold VW Beetle.

BITE ME

Rachelle Lefevre, the red-headed Montreal-born beauty from the Twilight series of films, told MuchMusic veejay Devon Soltendieck she is currently filming Casino Jack with Kevin Spacey in town.

"It's a Washington scandal -- very different than Twilight but I hope they'll come out and see it anyway," Lefevre said.

In the meantime, she said the next Twilight movie, New Moon, will change people's minds about who heroine Bella (Kristen Stewart) should end up with.

"I think the really amazing thing about New Moon is everybody is so sure they're team Edward (Robert Pattinson as the lead vampire) -- and Taylor (Lautner as Edward's nemesis Jacob Black) is going to change your mind!"

"This is awesome. This is crazy," said Lautner, arriving later. "Our fans are amazing. I'm just so thankful to have all these fans behind us. We wouldn't be here without them, so it's great to see them here tonight."

Lautner, who grew up in Michigan, said he filmed a movie in Canada when he was 13 years old.

The only hint he would drop about New Moon is that "we get to see a bit more werewolves than vampires. I got to do almost all my stunts which was awesome because I love all the action. So it was cool that they let me do that."

RUMER HAS IT

Big and small screen hotties Rumer Willis and Audrina Patridge (The Hills) appeared together on the red carpet as co-stars of the new horror film, Sorority Row, in theatres this fall.

Willis said she gets no red-carpet arrival tips from her famous parents Demi Moore and Bruce Willis.

"The best thing that any parent can do is just be supportive and mine are -- so I'm very lucky," said Willis to MuchMusic veejay Devon Soltendieck.

Patridge confirmed this will be her last season on The Hills and will start filming a new show in late summer.
