‘Guitar Hero’ Cobain angers Love

Courtney Love is taking legal action against the makers of computer game Guitar Hero because she's furious the image of her late husband Kurt Cobain is being used while fans sing along to songs by Bon Jovi.

Game giant Activision created a Cobain character for Guitar Hero 5, which hit stores on 1 September.

The Nirvana star appears alongside Jimi Hendrix, while Johnny Cash, an animated Shirley Manson and Matt Bellamy of Muse also make appearances in the new game.

The company received Love's blessing to bring Cobain back to life for the game, but the former Hole singer insists she would never have given the project her thumbs up if she knew the late rocker would be 'reincarnated' for renditions of Livin' On A Prayer.

Her lawyer tells TMZ.com, "Activision is exploiting Kurt's image in a manner anathema to the very essence of his music, spirit and essence.

"I, along with Ms. Cobain, hope those who love Kurt's music strongly voice their sentiments to Activision and demand his image not be debased by singing the songs of Bon Jovi."

Love is not the only person to object to Cobain's Guitar Hero 5 cameo - his former Nirvana bandmates Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic are also "dismayed and very disappointed".
