Yauch is 'healthy and hopeful'

Beastie Boys star Adam Yauch is bouncing back after undergoing treatment for cancer - insisting his clean-living new lifestyle has set him on the road to recovery.

The No Sleep Till Brooklyn rapper was diagnosed with the disease in his salivary gland in July, and vowed to fans he would be fine, as his cancerous tumour was "very treatable".

Yauch pulled out of several festival slots over the summer, and jetted out to India to seek the advice of Tibetan doctors, who specialize in cleansing the body.

He undertook a strict diet of vegan and organic produce, as well as consuming ancient Chinese medicine - and is adamant his new diet is doing him the world of good.

He says, "I'm feeling healthy, strong and hopeful that I've beaten this thing, but of course time will tell.

"I'm taking Tibetan medicine and at the recommendation of the Tibetan doctors I've been eating a vegan/organic diet, surprisingly enough (that) was harder to do in India than it is now that I'm back home."
