Bieber breaks foot in mishap

Teenage pop sensation Justin Bieber was forced to hobble off stage after a concert in London on Monday when he tripped and broke his foot.

Usher's 15-year-old protege was opening for country star Taylor Swift at Wembley Arena but was forced to end his set early when he fell over and rolled his ankle during a performance of his song One Time.

He ignored the excruciating pain long enough to complete the track, before limping backstage to seek medical attention.

As a result of the injury, Bieber had to cancel his planned encore.

Shortly after his fall, Bieber posted a picture of his right foot in a cast and explained exactly what had happened.

In a post on his Twitter.com blog, he wrote, "In the last song, One Time, I tripped over something on stage coming down the ramp and felt my ankle roll in a very bad way.

"Turns out I fractured my foot and had to finish the song on a broken foot. After I was done I was in such pain I skipped the encore and got off stage and (went) back to see the medics."

Bieber was taken to a local hospital in an ambulance - but not without a smile on his face.

He explained, "Taylor Swift came backstage to see me before I went to the hospital because she is awesome!"

The Canadian star went back to visit his doctors on Tuesday morning to have his makeshift cast replaced with an air cast, which he will have to wear for six weeks.

But Bieber is refusing to let his injury get in the way of supporting Swift on tour - he hit the stage just hours later on Tuesday to perform on a stool in Manchester, north west England.

The injury comes just days after Bieber was threatened with arrest after refusing to stay away from a planned appearance at a Long Island, New York shopping mall, which turned into a riot when 10,000 fans showed up.
