Weezer cancels rest of U.S tour

Rockers Weezer have cancelled the remainder of their North American tour to allow frontman Rivers Cuomo time to recover after a freak bus accident which left him with a punctured lung and three broken ribs.

The singer was admitted to hospital in New York after a crash en route to a show at Boston University's Agganis Arena in Massachusetts earlier this month.

He was released after almost a week under doctors' observation, but his injuries forced the cancellation of the band's remaining December tour dates.

And now, as Cuomo begins his recovery at home in Los Angeles, the group has announced they are axing the rest of their North American shows scheduled for January.

It include three gigs in California and one in Arizona. There are currently no plans to reschedule the concerts.
