Fans outraged by Mayer comments

Rocker John Mayer has become a target on his beloved Twitter.com social network after making derogatory comments about women of colour in a new magazine article.

The singer/songwriter is as candid as ever in the new Playboy magazine interview, revealing he would happily pay his ex-girlfriend Jessica Simpson for sex and stating his love of blogging may have cost him his romance with another ex, Jennifer Aniston.

But it's comments he made about his sexual misadventures in "the hood" that have landed him in all sorts of trouble.

Boasting about the fact "black people love me", Mayer tells the publication, "Someone asked me the other day, 'What does it feel like to have a hood pass?' And, by the way, it's sort of like a contradiction in terms, because if you really had a hood pass, you would call it a n**ger pass...

"I said, 'I can't really have a hood pass. I've never walked into a restaurant, asked for a table and been told, 'We're full.'"

But Playboy readers feel Mayer went too far when he suggested he had a "white supremacist" penis.

He adds, "My d**k is sort of like a white supremacist. I've got a Benetton heart and a f**kin' David Duke c**k. I'm going to start dating separately from my d**k."

He failed to explain his comments in the article, but went on to reveal he finds African-American actresses Holly Robinson Peete and Kerry Washington attractive.

Calling the latter "superhot", Mayer went on to suggest she's "white-girl crazy," adding, "Kerry Washington would break your heart like a white girl. Just all of a sudden she'd be like, 'Yeah, I sucked his d**k. Whatever.'"

His comments haven't been received well by his Twitter followers, who think Mayer went too far.

In a Twitter.com forum on Wednesday, a blogger named OneNiceDish wrote, "Seriously, what is wrong with John Mayer? Total a**hat," while jfuentes tweeted, "Why is everyone still surprised when John Mayer says crazy s**t to reporters? He lives for this stuff."

Many others accused the singer/songwriter of going too far and U.S. TV news pundits have now called for Mayer to explain his controversial comments.
