Guitarist Mark Abrahamian has died after performing with veteran rockers Starship in Nebraska on Sunday night.

Reports suggest he suffered a heart attack and died shortly after leaving the stage in Norfolk.

Starship's concert in Orem, Utah on Monday has been cancelled following the sudden tragedy.

A Twitter.com post released on behalf of the band reads: "We are shocked and saddened at the sudden loss of our guitar player Mark Abrahamian. We will miss you, brother. Rest in peace, Mark."

The band also posted a tribute on its Facebook.com page, writing: "Mark was a kind, thoughtful and innovative soul. He was also a friend and family member. Mark also happened to be one hell of a guitar player. We are devastated by the loss of our brother and just dealing with it the best we can."

The guitarist has been touring with Mickey Thomas' Starship for over a decade. He has also performed with members of Survivor and Toto, Christopher Cross and American Idol star Ace Young.
