Green Day scrapped a show in Italy on Sunday night after frontman Billie Joe Armstrong was hospitalized.
It’s still unclear what ails the 21 Guns singer, but his bandmates Mike Dirnt and Tre Cool released a video statement to fans hours before they were due onstage at the Arena Parco Nord in Bologna.
Dirnt says, “We sincerely apologize to our fans, but unfortunately due to illness Billie Joe has been hospitalised, and we regretfully must cancel our performance in Bologna, Italy this evening... This sucks.”
Drummer Cool adds, “We are beyond devastated... Billie is extremely upset about it.”
Green Day's next scheduled show is the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas on September 21.
No details about Armstrong’s mystery illness were available as WENN went to press.
