The Girls Just Wanna Have Fun hitmaker, who was living with her sister Elen in New York City, had to hitchhike to a meeting when she ran out of cash, and her driver took advantage of the penniless young singer, refusing to let Lauper, who was wearing a mini-dress and high heels, out of his vehicle until she agreed to get intimate with him.

Detailing the horrifying tale in her new novel, Cyndi Lauper: A Memoir, she writes, "It was a bad experience, and then I felt I deserved it because I must have looked like a w**re."
