Kelly Clarkson has opened up about her romance with boyfriend Brandon Blackstock, revealing she's committed to marrying the music promoter - and has been for years.
The couple started dating in 2011 after dancing around a romance for years, and the Since U Been Gone hitmaker insists she's determined to put their broken home backgrounds behind them one day and try marriage for themselves.
And she admits she first started thinking about becoming Mrs. Blackstock when she realized she and Brandon, her manager's son, hail from the same hometown in Texas.
In a Wednesday morning radio interview with DJ Ryan Seacrest, Clarkson recalled, "We met years ago when I was working with Rascal Flatts, and he used to tour manage with them... I was like, 'Dude, I gotta know that guy'.
"We were just in a room together, and then he came up and said he was from the same hometown as me and I was like, 'Oh, we're so getting married.' I was so that girl. When he became single, I was on the prowl.
"It's weird how life kind of puts you in certain situations. We're taking it slow, and we're enjoying each other. I'm from a family of broken marriages, but we will definitely break that trend one day."
And Clarkson admits she's blissfully happy with her man: "Once you finally fall in love with someone and you are so comfortable with them, it makes you more comfortable in your skin. It makes you comfortable as an artist and it makes you more confident... I know that doesn't sound like the cool, hardcore, 'I'm Miss Independent' girl, but it's the truth. I'm completely head over heels for him, he knows that."
