Swift: Tormenting ex-boyfriend 'fun'

Taylor Swift wrote her hit We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together to drive a real-life ex-boyfriend "crazy" when he heard the catchy track on the radio.

The singer came up with the break-up anthem, the lead single from her latest album Red, to exact revenge on an unnamed lover who belittled her music, and she wanted the song to get as much airplay as possible to annoy him.

She tells USA Today, "(It's) a definitive portrait of how I felt when I finally stopped caring what my ex thought of me. (He) made me feel like I wasn't as good or as relevant as these hipster bands he listened to...

"So I made a song that I knew would absolutely drive him crazy when he heard it on the radio. Not only would it hopefully be played a lot, so that he'd have to hear it, but it's the opposite of the kind of music that he was trying to make me feel inferior to."

When asked why she would want to torment her former boyfriend, Swift insists, "Because that's fun."

The Love Story hitmaker, who is now dating Robert Kennedy, Jr.'s son Conor, scored her first U.S. number one single when the song rocketed to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 in August.
