Michael Buble gets cold feet

Singer Michael Buble backed out of a charity hockey game in his native British Columbia last week after getting cold feet about taking to the ice.

The 'Haven't Met You Yet' hitmaker was slated to lace up his skates and hit the rink with the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday as part of a benefit game against the UBC Thunderbirds, hosted by NHL player Kevin Bieksa.

However, a nervous Buble pulled out of the line-up at the last minute.

He told The Vancouver Sun, "Honestly I wanted to play but I think I wimped out a bit. Nerves got the best of me. But I'm glad I didn't (play). It was fast, even faster than a lot of the boys actually thought it would be. If this was my only chance to watch NHL hockey this year, I surely didn't want to mess it up.

"It was very generous of Kevin to take the time to do this because he loves the community and it meant a lot to him. It was very generous of all those players and the five-and-a half-thousand fans to spend their hard-earned money to support all the great causes they did. I'm really lucky to be in the position to do something."

But the singer made it up to fans by donating $100,000 to the evening's spotlighted charities: The Canucks Autism Network, Canucks Family Education Centre, and the Canuck Place hospice.
